We had such a good Breakfast. Not only was the food outstandingly good, but the fellowship and encouragement were great too. Gary and Debbie Burlingame were brilliant in presenting words of truth and encouragement.
- They made the point that though this is their story, that their only son Christopher died, it is really a part of a larger story - God's story in history, God's redemptive story.
- Gary mentioned that it still brings tears to his eyes to see the evidence that God is at work especially in the little things around us. These are Gary's "close encounters with God." He said it has changed the way he sees life and the questions he now asks God.
- Both parents said they are still learning things about the Lord through Christopher's life and his death. Even now, 23 years later, it's an active influence on their faith.
Gary closed with reading Lam 3:17-24, including this: "it is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness."
Watch for the date for the Breakfast in 2011.
