I agree that everyone who has lost someone they dearly loved is seeking deeper and spiritual understanding. Certainly, everyone who has buried one has the feeling that “this is not all there is!” There is a sense of on-going-ness that, even those who never believed in spiritual things, now feel. “St Augustine puts it this way: our hearts are made for God, and only God satisfies our deepest souls. Frederick Buechner puts it like this: "we have a God-shaped hole in us that can only be filled by God.” (quoted from a sermon of unknown origin.)
