Amen to this. It is SO good to know that the Spirit takes my illogical, scrambled mumbles and makes sense of that, turning them into a meaningful prayer. Knowing this gives me peace.

I agree. However, the two must come together and share what they have been hearing from the support individual or group. If not, I feel it could lead to additional sharing of other matters and eventually draw the couple apart. Just a thought.

His motive was love - love for His Father and for each of us. My response is to be deeply humbled and to love Him back.

Thank you for the reminder of Jesus' grief and His submission to His Father's will. There was hard work at Easter.

Dear Elisa,

Thank you so much for your comments and encouragement.

I agree that everyone who has lost someone they dearly loved is seeking deeper and spiritual understanding. Certainly, everyone who has buried one has the feeling that “this is not all there is!” There is a sense of on-going-ness that, even those who never believed in spiritual things, now feel. “St Augustine puts it this way: our hearts are made for God, and only God satisfies our deepest souls. Frederick Buechner puts it like this: "we have a God-shaped hole in us that can only be filled by God.” (quoted from a sermon of unknown origin.)

I also know what you mean about healing others is essential to your own healing. One dad said “Helping helps.” May your search lead you to truth that truly helps both you and others.

God bless, Judy b

I find your site both insightful and comforting. My son recently committed suicide . . . Healing others seems to be important to my own healing process. Please keep up the good work. Your wisdom is sorely needed in a world that yearns for spirituality and a deeper understanding. xoxo Elisa
