We Celebrated the Journey

What a fantastic banquet God enabled H*VMI to sponsor in Williamstown, New Jersey this past November 5th. It was our first event in South Jersey, where the H*VMI ministry began in 1973!

Highlights:

The special music was presented by a woman who is blind and who has been involved in H*VMI’s very first “God’s Special People” Sunday school class in South Jersey. We were so blessed by the beautiful voice God gave her as she ministered to all of us at the banquet … and by the words to the songs she selected:  “God Will Make a Way” and “You are My All in All.”

There was a brief power point presentation about H*VMI ministry programs. To some who attended the banquet, the story of H*VMI wasn’t new, while others who were there heard it for the first time.

Dr. Harry Morgan, who had ministered in South Jersey for a number of years as a pastor and counselor, presented Biblical truths that kept us focused on the Author of this 38 year old ministry. I was especially intrigued that he made a connection with H*VMI to the passage in John 5 about the man who lay beside the pool of Bethsaida waiting for someone to lift him in to be healed!  Harry reminded us that he waited there 38 years!!!

The meal was incredible.

The financial gifts we received have greatly helped the ministry.  Gail Eisenlohr, one of our Board members, presented the need and the 165 who attended donated more than $10,000 to H*VMI!!!  What an incredible provision from the Lord.

I believe God was honored and those who attended were blessed at this day’s event. As the various ministries were presented, my wife, Kathy, and I were once again amazed to be able to reflect on all the Lord has done over the last 38 years of this ministry. We looked around us at a room filled with H*VMI missionaries, ministry staff, volunteers, and prayer and financial supporters and we felt so thankful to be co-laborers with them. To be able to respond to His command to reach a needy and hurting world is such an honor.

Resources for Reaching Out to Hurting People

Saturday, October 15th, 2011
Author: Tim Sheetz

I have some exciting news for you and your church.  H*VMI has produced two products that encourage you as you reach out to hurting people.

The first one is entitled Restored: Seeing Me Through God’s Eyes, written by our REST ministry staff. The binder is designed to build up the believer by giving Biblical insight that makes Godly choices in life. You know that it is much needed in today’s society.
The other one, Starting a Minds Renewed Ministry, has just been made available. The idea of the manual is to help individuals and churches understand the Biblical approach to overall wellness and how we can begin to reach out to those with mental illness and their families through “interwoven health.” For far too long, the church, as a whole, has missed out on the opportunity to minister to this neglected “field.”

I would encourage you to learn more about these resources by clicking on the above links.  Consider ordering these helpful tools for your ministry.

Upcoming Special Events

H*VMI has a number of exciting events taking place over the next several weeks.

Let’s start with this weekend. We’ve been invited to join with other mission agencies at a fundraising ministry fair at Cherry Crest Adventure Farms in Lancaster County on Saturday, September 17th. It’s going to be a great opportunity to get people to learn about the ministry and at the same time contribute to the financial need. Cherry Crest Adventure Farms is a great place to bring your family. A lot of wonderful activities are going on there and it looks like the weather will be great.

Then there’s our annual golf outing on September 26th in South Jersey. We will be focusing on the BASIS ministry and we expect several foursomes to attend.

On October 1st, H*VMI will be hosting an evening concert with Michael Card at Lancaster Bible College. We’re looking to have a full house as the Lord uses the ministry of Michael Card to encourage the hearts of those attending. In addition, we’re hoping to inform them of the various ministries of H*VMI.

Finally, there’s the South Jersey H*VMI banquet on November 5th. Dr. Harry Morgan will be our guest speaker and we’ll be looking forward to presenting the ministry there as well.
You can get more information by clicking on the links above. I hope to meet you at one or all of these special events.

SERVANT Orientation 2011 – Meet Our New Missionaries

Thursday, August 18th, 2011
Author: Tim Sheetz

It is always amazing to me to see the way God directs and brings people into the ministry. This week is Servant Orientation week at H*VMI. We have 5 individuals who, by God’s design have said “yes” to Him and are now a part of the H*VMI family.

Tom Brown has already served with H*VMI as a counselor at Handi*Camp and with our Discipleship Ministries.  He is coming on staff as a full-time missionary.

Leah and Kyle Robinson have served at Handi*Camp for many years.  They have applied to join us as full-time missionaries.

Ron and Joan Denlinger joined our H*VMI family in May.  Joan served at Handi*Camp as a camp nurse and Ron is our Deputy Executive Director.

They all come with different backgrounds, God given gifts and abilities. Yet, they all have a deep love for the Lord, a willingness to be used by Him and a desire to work together. To be honest, when I see all of that put together, my eyes often fill with tears of gratitude to the Lord for the way He has orchestrated their lives and blessed mine by bringing them into this work. I ask you to join me in praying for them as they become involved in the various aspects of the ministry as well as securing their financial support.  What an honor to serve the Lord together.  And all of God’s people said … AMEN!
