Missionary:      CINDY HARMON

With H*VMI Since: 1999

What I do at H*VMI:

• I am the director of REST Ministries.
• I am a life coach for hurting people.
• I tutor those in need of their GED.
• I am a part of the REST prison team
• I supervise our Thrift shop, Tabitha's Treasure Chest.

About Me:

Family: I have been married to my husband Gary since 1970. We have three sons who are all married to wonderful Christian women and they have given us eight grandchildren. They all live within 25 minutes of us and we love seeing them often.
 
Hobbies: Besides playing with my grandchildren I love to read and garden.
 
Background: I was born in Pittsburgh, Kansas - fifth of six children. My parents were not Christians but they were moral people who did their best to be good parents. When I was about ten years old we were living in Chicago, IL. I became friends with the local pastor's daughter so of course I was invited to church. I accepted the Lord Jesus as my Savior after Sunday School one day. At that time I fully understood that Jesus was my Savior and I was on my way to heaven. I also knew God lived in heaven and I lived here on earth and so I thought I had to wait until I died to enjoy a relationship with Him. We moved from Chicago to Des Moines, IA before I learned any different.
 
I was married and had our first child before I was invited to church again. There I heard that God had given me the Holy Spirit, had a plan for my life and He desired fellowship with me now! That was in 1975 and I dedicated my life to the Lord that night. My husband accepted the Lord a few months later at a community Bible Study. In 1984 I began Home schooling my youngest son and a few years later added my middle son to our roster. I continued through their high school graduation; which I believe is what prepared me to tutor people for their GED now. My Life Verse: "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me." (Gal. 2:20 )
