Engage with people - serve our Lord!

H*VMI serves people “where they are,” in group homes, residential facilities, nursing homes, refugee centers, on the streets. Depending on the short term ministry program selected, travel is to be expected.

For opportunities beyond “one-day visits,” individuals and groups must complete an application process and are asked to raise support to cover expenses during their time of service with H*VMI. Expenses include ministry materials, travel, housing and meals.

STATESIDE MINISTRY INTENSIVES

One week experience for small groups to visit a wide variety of our ministries to people of all ages affected by disability and/or mental health issues. H*VMI staff will provide daily training sessions prior to ministry events. Below is a sample schedule that will vary based on which ministries take place the weeks of the missions trip.

  • Sunday: Visit an existing church program for people with disabilities.

  • Monday: Melmark, ministering to people with intellectual disabilities by providing a VBS type program.

  • Tuesday: Inglis House, ministering to adults with disabilities through music, Bible teaching and visitation.

  • Wednesday: Maple Farm, visiting senior adults in a nursing home setting and providing a Senior VBS program.

  • Thursday: Prepare gift baskets for bereaved families. Do a service project for someone dealing with a mental illness.

  • Friday: Providing “soup to nuts” respite program for families affected by disability.

  • Saturday: Relax and enjoy some time with the team sightseeing in beautiful Lancaster County.

Due to space limitation, we are unable to accommodate additional groups to serve with us during Handi*Camp.

HOWEVER, we do encourage churches to send individuals to camp as part of our regular summer camp staff. Prospects must go through the camp staff application process. Terms of service may vary from one to six weeks plus a mandatory five day staff training.
