Serve at Handi*Camp!
Handi*Camp offers a variety of ways to serve the Lord and our campers each summer. All positions are paid positions and include room and board, although people may choose to serve as a volunteer. Positions vary in the level of engagement with people with disabilities. Minimum ages for certain positions are defined. In positions where “Adult” is listed, we welcome those with a heart to serve, whether in their 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, …! In several positions, “older” adults are preferred.

POSITIONS AVAILABLE
Activities Assistant: Assist the Activities Coordinator in the planning and/or leading of electives, group games or special events.
Assistant Nurse: LPNs or RNs responsible for general health care of campers and fellow staff members, under the direction of the Health Care Manager. At least one year post-grad nursing experience required.
Counselor: Adults and older teens (ages 18+), who are directly responsible for leading in the spiritual, social, physical and personal care needs of up to three campers per camp session.
Housekeeping Staff: Adults and older teens (ages 18+), responsible for cleaning and restocking supplies.
Support Staff: Adults and teens (ages 16+), who are assigned to assist in various aspects of camp life, including: Bible times; activities; and directly supporting counselors in camper participation and care.
STAFF SALARY INFORMATION
A salary is available for those who serve at day-camp. Staff are not paid to attend the required orientation. Staff members may also choose to volunteer.
In addition to salary, Handi*Camp provides:
Full room and board provided by a host family during your week(s) serving at camp. (weekends included if staying multiple weeks)
Worker's Compensation Insurance coverage for any camp-related accident or illness.
[NOTE: It is strongly recommended that staff members have personal health insurance to cover non-camp-related illnesses or medical situations that may arise.]

THE PROCESS
Complete the initial Summer Staff Info Form which includes your availability and the position(s) in which you are interested.
Someone from HandiCamp will contact you following receipt of your initial Info Form. Step two is completing the “Final Questionnaire” which includes a reference request and questions regarding your personal faith/doctrinal beliefs. The final step is an interview.
