On August 1, 2026, H*VMI held a Groundbreaking in conjunction with our Annual PIP Picnic. We saw an opportunity to encourage those served by Disability Ministries to join in celebrating the start of the next step in the property project, the construction of the Multi-Purpose Building. While this building will serve ALL areas of H*VMI’s ministry (Disability, Grief, and Training & Equipping), we knew the campers and Bible clubbers especially would enjoy the kick-off event.

On the day, we held an information session for the community. Then we gathered about 250 people under the blue skies to sing praise to the Lord, honor ALL HE HAS DONE in the ministry and the project, and preview what is next. Afterward, as you can see pictured, we had Handi*Campers and Bible Clubbers take turns with hats and shovels flipping dirt. Yes, I said, flipping! In my excitement on the day, I used a less precise term for what typically is a ceremonial “turning over” of dirt at a groundbreaking. The result was some very enthusiastic “flipping” of dirt over heads! We were glad to have the hard hats! We were LOVING the joy we saw in the faces of those participating and in those witnessing the event.

We trust God was glorified and honored throughout the day, and we PRAISE HIM FOR ALL HE HAS DONE. Here are a few quick notes to remind you of His work through the project.

  • 2017: Property purchased

  • 2021: Approvals secured

  • 2022: Groundbreaking for H*VMI Headquarters Office and full site excavation

  • 2023: Moving OUT of rental office/space and INTO permanent Office Building

  • 2026 (June): All Site excavation and office construction costs PAID in FULL!

  • August 2026: Construction beginning on Multi-Purpose Building
